Activities & Programs
If you want to, you can find something fun and interesting to do just about every day at Congregation Beth Israel! That is because of the variety of activities and programs offered by the various Committees and organizations within the Congregation. Some examples:
Sisterhood offers fashion shows, an annual Rummage Sale, speakers, ballroom dancing lessons, Rosh Chodesh gatherings, educational programming and more. The Men's Club sponsors holiday food cook-offs, such as the annual Latka Skillet event and Hamantashen Cook-off for Purim. The Club also builds the Sukkah each year, sponsors the Congregational Asheville Tourists Baseball event, and plans many other social and educational programs.
The Spiritual Committee offers multiple choices for engaging one's spiritual side. Everything from meditation sessions on Sunday afternoons to Folk Shabbats and Musical Shabbats to lay leadership of Saturday morning services provides members with meaningful opportunities for involvement.
Adult Education is very active and successful in its programs. The very popular Dinner and a Movie is offered several times a year. Sunday morning programs include speaker series and there is an ongoing Friday noon study group.
Other CBI programs include Mahj Mania (twice a year), Trivia Night (quarterly), annual picnic, quarterly catered Shabbat dinners, catered Second Sedar, Celebration Israel, and Yom Kippur Break-the-Fast.
CBI's activities and programs give you an opportunity to have some fun, meet new people, and learn more about your Judaism. Come join us!
