Hazak is the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism's organization for mature Jews, providing a social setting for CBI congregants and guests 55 and older.
The name HAZAK is an acronym. The het stands for Hokhmah (wisdom), the zayan for Ziknah (maturity) and the kuph for Kadima (looking ahead). So Hazak notes that the senior represents cumulative knowledge, the ability to judge as zakeyn in a mature fashion, and has aspirations to move ahead during the decades remaining.
Hazak members meet the first Wednesday of each month, typically for dinner at a local restaurant, and sometimes with an added "event" before dinner. The overall goal is to schmooze, debate, discuss, and interact.
