Performance will be held on October 20, 2023 at Congregation Beth
Israel in the evening as a readers theatre performance for a dinner
theatre audience.
The play, A Peddler Knocked, focuses on the first Jewish immigrant, a
peddler, to arrive in western North Carolina in the early 1900s where
the local people have never met a Jew before. Mostly things go well
but there are threats from the Ku Klux Klan and an inter faith love
affair, taboo at the time, between Molly and David.
Good parts are available for men and women.

Joe Allen Trantham: An Appalachian farmer
Rivka Rosenthal: Jake’s Russian born wife
David Rosenthal: Jake and Rivka’s son
Molly Trantham: Joe Allen’s daughter
All members of the cast will receive a small
remuneration and dinner.
