Below are some notes for Shabbat’s sermon:

A Divine Voice proclaimed: “Both these and those are the words of the
living God. However, the law is in accordance with the opinion of the
School of Hillel.” Since both these and those are the words of the living
God, why were the disciples of Hillel privileged to have the law established
in accordance with their opinion? The reason is that they were disarming
and forbearing, and they studied both their own opinions and the opinions
of the School of Shammai. Not only that, but they placed the words of the
School of Shammai prior to their own.
– Babylonian Talmud, Eruvin 13b
“I will harden the heart of Pharaoh …. Pharaoh will not heed you, that I may
lay my hand upon Egypt and bring out my armies, my people the Israelites,
from the land of Egypt by great judgments.”
– Shemot/Exodus 7:3-4
… Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rod. Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and
he did not heed them, as Hashem had said.
– Shemot/Exodus 7:12-13
The magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God!” But Pharaoh’s
heart was hardened and he did not heed them, as Hashem had said.
– Shemot/Exodus 8:15
