Cafe Israel

About Cafe Israel

Each year, CBI celebrates the culture, beauty and mystery of Israel during Cafe Israel, one of three major annual fundraisers sponsored by CBI. Cafe Israel regularly draws several thousand visitors throughout the day. Some come for the authentic homemade Israeli dishes – falafel, schwarma, matbucha, Moroccan eggplant, hummus, tahina, baklava, borekas, malabi and more – that can be enjoyed during the festival or purchased for later. You can also count on finding local beers as well as Israeli wine. Other indulgences for your senses include;

  • Israeli music
  • Folk dancing
  • Film screenings
  • Informational/Inspirational presentations
  • Bedouin tent with Turkish coffee and mint tea

There is plenty to keep kids occupied, too. Our free Kids’ Zone features activities such as an archaeological dig with take-home treasures, face painting, games, balloon twisting arts and crafts and more.

There is also a silent auction featuring original works by some of Asheville’s best-known artists and craftsmen, theater tickets, entertainment packages, retail gift baskets, professional services, jewelry, shopping extravaganzas and more.

How you can help

Organizing and sponsoring this annual celebration is, as you can imagine, a community effort. At least half of the CBI community helps out each year in some form. And you certainly don’t have to be a CBI member to volunteer. All hands and hearts are welcomed.

What do you like to do:

  • Marketing and PR
  • Social media
  • Logistics and planning
  • Food prep and cooking
  • Set-up and clean-up
  • Corporate sales

Funraiser and Fundraiser

In addition to being a rich cultural and social experience, Cafe Israel is also a major annual fundraiser for CBI. Revenues from food sales, silent auction bids and the financial support of area businesses and individuals enable us to continue offering the programs and services the Asheville community values. If you are so inclined, we hope you will consider supporting Cafe Israel by:

  • Sharing it on social media
  • Bringing a friend to enjoy the food and silent auction
  • Becoming a sponsor by offering a voluntary donation
