Torah on Tap presents: When the problem with religion is…um, religion

A recent Pew Research report showed that 89% of Jews believe in the concept of God. At the same time, Jewish engagement in worship services—where Jews traditionally have gone to talk with the Almighty—is taking a nosedive. What’s up? We seem to find the notion of the Divine…well, divine, we just have a hard time divining our joy together. What’s really going on? When someone says they’re SBNR (spiritual but not religious) what do they really mean? Is it something we should worry about?

Join our hardy (and hearty) band of Torah on Tappers this Sunday May 27th, from 4-5:30pm at Habitat Tavern and Commons as we try to unpack and tackle the issues behind this trend. This event is free and open. You are encouraged to come and share your thoughts, enjoy some good company and a pint or two.

Habitat is located at 174 Broadway St, Asheville, next Moog Music, with parking in the rear of the building. Unfortunately, Rabbi Justin will be unable to attend this month, but don’t let that stop you. For more information, email Alan Silverman.
